Launching as part of Steam Next Fest (February 24 – March 3), this special demo is a unique introduction to the unforgiving world of Gothic.

A Different Perspective: Play as Nyras
In this self-contained prologue, players won’t step into the shoes of the Nameless Hero just yet. Instead, they will experience the Colony through the eyes of Nyras, a newly convicted prisoner struggling to survive in a ruthless environment where danger lurks around every corner.

What to Expect
Nyras Prologue offers an early glimpse at the world, mechanics, and atmosphere of the full remake, built in Unreal Engine 5. However, it is important to note that this experience does not feature the intended progression, freedom, simulation, and immersion that the full game will provide. Instead, it takes place in a small section of the world with a limited set of mechanics, designed to give players a first impression of the remake’s visuals and combat.

  • The prologue is a standalone experience with approximately one hour of gameplay.
  • Players will not take on the role of the Nameless Hero but instead play as Nyras, a convict trying to survive in the Colony.
  • The prologue features challenging combat and an immersive world, but it is not representative of the full game’s depth and freedom.
  • This experience is set in a small section of the world and features limited game mechanics compared to the final release.
  • Built in Unreal Engine 5, it offers a first look at the rebuilt environments and updated visuals of Gothic 1 Remake.
